Company shifting resources to pursue growth opportunities in other business lines

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (April 23, 2018) – JSJ Corporation announced today that it is discontinuing the izzy+ brand and reallocating resources to pursue growth opportunities in other core business lines. izzy+ is an office furniture company that has been part of the JSJ portfolio since 2001. The company will stop taking orders and end production after fulfilling its supplier and contractual obligations.

“We are proud of the work, the products, and most importantly, the people who have defined izzy+,” said Nelson Jacobson, Chairman, CEO of JSJ Corporation. “JSJ is a family business, and izzy+ has been an important part of our family for the last 17 years. While difficult, the decision to close izzy+ is the right one for our company, and we are working closely with employees, suppliers, business partners and others to ensure an organized and thoughtful transition.”

izzy+ has plants in Spring Lake, Michigan, and Middlebury, Indiana. The Indiana plant will close at the end of its production cycle. JSJ plans to repurpose the Spring Lake facility to meet the growing needs of GHSP, Sparks and Dake.

“While izzy+ is an important part of JSJ’s history, unfortunately, it no longer fits within our strategic plan and goals for the future,” said Tom Rizzi, JSJ’s COO. “It’s a consumer-facing furniture company, whereas our focus is investing in portfolio companies that provide highly engineered solutions and value-added services within highly complex, business-to-business environments. As we pursue new opportunities for growth, it makes business sense to discontinue the izzy+ brand and reposition our resources in other strategic areas.”

JSJ leaders are meeting with management and employees at the izzy+ locations in Michigan and Indiana to talk about the decision, the production timeframe, and steps the company is taking to support those affected. Some izzy+ employees will have the opportunity to move to open positions at other JSJ portfolio companies. All others will receive financial compensation, as well as services to support them through the transition.

“It is important we do everything we can to help the employees and families impacted by this decision,” Rizzi said. “We know some of them will remain a part of the JSJ family and fill critical needs at other portfolio companies as our business continues to expand. But for those who will leave JSJ, we want them to know we value their contributions, and intend to provide meaningful support as they transition to other opportunities.”
