The Valentine's Day plot deepens with "The Adventures of izzy and Lucy.D" and the launch of Layla™, a romantically cool conference table from Harter by izzy+
SPRING LAKE, MICHIGAN, January 30, 2011 -- A smart, sophisticated and stylish conference table named Layla is making its debut on Valentine’s Day 2011. It’s love at first sight -- and heartfelt commitment soon after.
Adaptable, affordable, Euro-beautiful and thoughtfully practical, Layla is the inspiration of Lucy.D, an Austrian design firm led by Karin Santorso and Barbara Ambrosz. It’s their first project for Harter by izzy+.
“Layla brings life to meetings," the designers explain. "It's about giving space to concentration and communication. It provides a discussion platform that also offers trays in the raceway for personal needs and items for inspiration.”
Layla offers an elegant and ingenious design that promotes connection -- human and technological -- and the possibility of almost endless configurations with tables that accommodate from six to 24 people.
Layla brings fresh innovation to cable management and a clever raceway with storage and display functionality. Its sleek work surface comes in eight veneers, 10 laminates or marker board, and its strikingly beautiful base boasts six finishes and either a C-leg or X-base option.
In tandem with the introduction of Layla, a new hardcover storybook entitled “The Adventures of izzy and Lucy.D” is being distributed to more than 4,000 designers nationally as part of Harter's annual Valentine's Day promotion. It follows last Valentine’s Day publication of “The Adventures of Olivia and Truman,” heralding Harter’s 2010 design introductions of Truman and Olivia. The storybooks are designed to be whimsical collectibles for those in the architecture and design community.
“The Adventures of izzy and Lucy.D” tells the story of the inspiration for the design and development of Layla, with appropriate artistic and creative license. It culminates in a festive birthday party for izzy -- in homage to the impending observance of the 10th birthday of the founding of izzy+ in June, 2001.
The adventures chronicled in the storybook also will be found on Harter’s 2011 Valentine’s Day website, www.izzyandlucyd.com. Visitors to the site will not only learn more about the sixth annual Harter’s Valentine’s Day blitz and the introduction of Layla, they can make a difference by designating one of three charitable organizations that Harter and izzy+ are supporting this year.
Every designer who receives a storybook and participates in a Harter Valentine's Day presentation is eligible to enter an online contest at www.izzyandlucyd.com in which they could win an iPad or an array of gift cards. Upon entering the contest, izzy+ will make a donation on each designer's behalf to their choice of three non-profit organizations -- Reading Is Fundamental, The Girl Effect or The International Children’s Heart Foundation.
“Our Valentine’s Day blitz is a great opportunity to showcase Harter’s elegant and modernist design capabilities, and to focus on the unfolding izzy+ story of how our brands work better together,” says Debbie Goode, director of marketing communications for izzy+. “The Layla introduction this year will add a lively new chapter to that commitment by showing new ways to create a fun, flexible and sustainable environment that supports emerging workstyles.”
