GREENGUARD Product Certification Reaches All the way to Copenhagen

Product certification program used by organizers to select HÅG Chairs at the 15th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15)

ATLANTA - December 11, 2009 - While the 350 delegates in attendance at the Copenhagen Climate Conference will have many difficult decisions to make to address global climate change, they will not have to worry about indoor air quality at the conference. Each of them is comfortably sitting atop a GREENGUARD Certified HÅG chair. The HÅG Futu, Capisco and Conventio office chairs are all GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified®, helping to improve indoor air quality, and are recyclable and made with recycled materials, helping to reduce resource consumption. The GREENGUARD Certification ProgramSM is for low-emitting products. All GREENGUARD Certified products must meet stringent standards for low chemical emissions based on established health criteria from key public health agencies from around the world.

"It is phenomenal to see GREENGUARD Certified products being utilized across the world and in venues and meetings concerned about our environment and general well being," said Henning Bloech, Executive Director of the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute. "HÅG chairs being selected for this meeting demonstrate how the internationally recognized GREENGUARD mark helps in the selection and specification of products for healthy indoor environments."

All GREENGUARD Certified products are listed online in the free GREENGUARD Product GuideSM, which lists the products that are regularly monitored to ensure that their chemical and particle emissions meet acceptable indoor air quality pollutant guidelines and standards.

"We are excited to have our chairs selected for the Climate Conference," stated Lars I. Roiri, CEO of Scandinavian Business Seating. "It provides additional recognition of HÅG's commitment to sustainability, which aims to minimize our company's and products' impact on indoor and outdoor environments."

About the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute

Founded in 2001, the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) is an independent, third-party organization that oversees the GREENGUARD Certification programs. The Institute's mission is to protect human health and quality of life through programs that improve indoor air. As an ANSI Accredited Standards Developer, GEI establishes acceptable indoor air standards for building materials, interior products, electronic equipment, indoor environments and buildings. The more than 200,000 GREENGUARD Certified products represented under the GREENGUARD Certification mark must meet stringent; third-party standards for low chemical emissions based on established health standards and undergo rigorous testing and verification processes on a regular basis. GREENGUARD Certification is broadly recognized and accepted by a number of "green" building programs, including the United States Green Building Council's (USGBC) LEED rating system.
