Designed by Dennis Foley, Jeffrey Gershune & Chuck Saylor
In 2007, Chuck Saylor, founder and president of izzy+, and designer Dennis Foley introduced the Hannah swivel tilt task chair, which earned a Best of NeoCon Editors’ Choice Award. (Original Hannah design by Dennis Foley and Jeffrey Gershune) The swivel-tilt design was developed in direct response to customers, who liked the Hannah stacking chair and café height chair but also wanted a version they could use at their desks. An industrial designer and former professor at Kendall College of Art & Design, Foley designed the Hannah concept, drawing from his own research and experience with the masters at Herman Miller: Bill Stumpf, Don Chadwick and Rog Bush. Foley also designed the first personal computer incorporating disk drive technology and Zenith Data Systems' first laptop computer. Saylor has more than 21 patents and three decades of furniture industry experience, including senior management positions in marketing, design and sales with Haworth, Inc. and Knoll. In 1976, during what he might call a defining moment, Saylor, Dick Haworth and Harold Wilson led the design and development of the first pre-wired steel panel system in the office furniture industry. Saylor’s work currently is being shown at New York's Museum of Modern Art.
